Project Overview
Working with Rolls Royce’s digital corporate communications team, I was part of the creative account leadership team that worked on their digital transformation. Seeing their website and the business constantly adapting to the ever-changing engineering and digital comms industries.
Over the course of 3+ years, we evolved the Rolls Royce digital ecosystem to a purposeful, story-led digital experience, where content is king. This included a website platform migration, website IA restructures, content creation, a phased site redesign, design system implementation, and a global company rebrand.
Building a flexible modular design system to cater to the mix of content formats, static, interactive, and both long and short-form website page types.
Over a period of 3 years, we reduced the depth of the IA and improved the accessibility of lower-level high-value content, ensuring pages were written and presented in a digitally friendly manner, and in the new Rolls Royce style and TOV.
Early exploration of the website's primary navigation dropdown with a cascading three tiers, allowing users to navigate directly to pages and content of specific interest.
We also introduced full-page search functionality, post the visual rebrand brand project utilising a bold use of the Roll Royce blue and newly introduced magenta.
Considering the different content types and article category tags, we designed a mixture of module styles, layouts, and interactions to allow users to easily differentiated between stories, press releases, insight stories, and evergreen content.
